Hey Skinners

0 min read
I'm a Flash programmer who stays busy programming. I specialize in Flash audio manipulation. My average client is a startup band or label who wants to add audio to their website. I'm trying to expand the products on my website. So, I've created some stock media players (mostly XML driven) that people can purchase "as-is". Frankly, while people love for me to program their graphics, my own graphics have not been selling very well. I think it's because I don't have time to create really cool skins for the Flash audio players. The offer: $10 per player you let me use. So, here's my offer. If you have a really cool skin that I can convert to a

hi!! just browsing around, and I happened to come upon you. it's always interesting to find people with similar names....anywho, just dropping by. you have some amazing skinning talent! keep it up!
thanks for the fav :)
Thanks bud for the favorite :D it's highly appriciated
That sounds like a lucrative offer, but I do have afew questions.
You mentioned you needed the .psd, but would you be able to do the same with a png file? The bg would be trans, and the skinners would be more likely to give you a copy of the .png file rather than the .psd's. 2) Is this something that reqs all the files to the skin, or just the main images? 3) would this offer be legally binding in court should someone else attempt to acquire liscense over the artwork itself?

I'd love to do it, but am abit leery of losing the rights to my work.
I'm not saying you'd take it...lol, I'm saying corporate america is a finely tuned knock-off machine, and we'd both get screwed if this were to happen, as you'd lose $$$ to another, and the artist would lose the rights to his/her own work. (similar to Carl Kartcher, and Carl's Jr wherein he sold too much of his stock and was forced to resign from the very company he created, and founded)

I'm a dolt when it comes to writes, and so forth. Also if I can help to avoid you yourself from getting the royal corporate banging, I will.
It seems really clean cut in your journal. I think it's a damn good idea, and I dig the fact that you're willing to help us skinners out too.

There's way too many damn good skinners out there to let them all do work for free, as they have been doing. If this works we'll be calling you Lord Aspirin!....

Thank you for the fav on Carbon Glass also I apreciate the hell out of the support!
Please be patient with me as I learn how to use the various Deviant interfaces.

1. A transparent PNG should work fine. Thanks for pointing that out. The only draw back I can think of is that there may be more back and forth between me and the author. I was guessing that most authors will not want to have to do much effort for $10. Nonetheless, I'm flexible.

2. Probably not all the files- mainly a composite image of the main interface and the song list. As previously mentioned, I can't really use the equalizer part.

3. The risk of someone stealing your work is a risk that all we artist take every time we put something on the web. The only thing you can really do is have your licensing guidelines spelled out in writing. I would also embed those into Flash file. Most of my customers just want to display their music. The risk seems low for them. I would certainly be willing to create a Document of Understanding that outlined all aspects that we all agree upon before proceeding.

Right, I really think this is mutually beneficial to me and the skinners. It promotes their work, and they get a few dollars for something they only planned on doing for free.

By the way, here is the page where I'm currently trying to sell my players, so you can see exactly what I'm tryinig to do.
